About MeAfter John Phillip's wife Maria was committed to a mental asylum, the care of Phillip's children was placed in the hands of Jean Isabella Ross, who acted as a nurse-governess to the children. Clearly a valued member of his household, Miss Ross often joined Phillip with the children for holidays in the country at Dhivach Lodge in Inverness-shire and was with him at his death.

In his will Phillip instructed that all his possessions be sold and the proceeds be equally divided into four parts - one quarter to his wife, one quarter to each of the two children and one quarter to Miss Ross.

This intimate study shows the kindly face of a trusted friend.
