About MeJohn Mitchell was born in Aberdeen and after spending some time in London studying at the Slade School of Art he returned to the city and worked in the surrounding area. The artist painted Balmoral under the patronage of Queen Victoria. His royal connections did not end here, as he also gave painting lessons to members of the Royal family.
