About MeFred Bushe was born in Coatbridge in 1931. In 1980 he established the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden which today provides an environment where sculptors have the space to create large-scale work with the use of specialist machinery.

Bushe himself has used a range of materials throughout his career to create his sculptures. This work dates form the mid 1970s when the artist was working with aluminium. He uses its pristine form and silvery colour in order to suggest the watery movement of waves.

Bushe has always sought to find visual metaphors for natural phenomena, which he interprets in a formal language that is abstract and is descended from the geometric principles of the Constructavists.

More About Me
