About MeEmilio Greco taught sculpture in Rome, Carrara and Naples during the 1950s and 1960s. Between 1959 and 1964 he worked on a set of bronze doors for Orvieto Cathedral and in 1965 he was commissioned to sculpt a monument to Pope John XXIII for St Peter's in Rome.

Influenced by Etruscan, Greek and Roman art, Greco's figures are classicised yet bulky and are often characterised by perfectly rounded heads. He is best known for his portrait busts and mid size female figures such as this work.

More About Me

This figure looks simultaneously dynamic and fed up. The shapes and curves are so simple and bold.
