About MeFrom the 1930s Moore was one of the most important figures in British art. His international reputation became established in the 1940s and his work was exhibited worldwide.Although Moore produced pure abstract sculptures he continued to sculpt figural compositions throughout his career. The Family Group was a theme which Moore explored repeatedly. He drew a number of groups in 1944 from which this sculpture emerged. Later, his figures were to become more stylised and the spatial relationships between each figure less defined.
More About Me
Moore produced this small model when working on a sculpture for a school. He wanted this artwork to appeal to both adults and children and created several studies featuring families.
