About MeEarthenware butter dish from dinner set. The Heirloom pattern was designed in 1967 for Hornsea Pottery by John Clappison. The distinctive pattern was screen printed onto the pottery with a medium which resisted the glaze, which then covered the unprinted areas. The thicker glaze produced a relief effect which enhanced the design. The Heirloom repeating pattern was developed from sketches and designs made with calligraphic pens.
