About MeThe token bears the following inscriptions - Side 1: East Church Aberdeen 1831; Side 2: In Remembrance of Me / 2. The figure 2 which is stamped on side 2 refers to the number of the table at which the token's possessor would have taken communion.

Part of St Nicholas Church in the centre of Aberdeen dates from the 12th century. In 1596 the building was divided to form the East and West churches. The East Church was rebuilt in 1837 to the design of Archibald Simpson, Abereen's most famous architect.

By the middle of the 20th century metal tokens had largely been replaced by printed communion cards. These were normally distributed by church elders to the home addresses of church members a few days before the communion service took place.
