About MeThe token is circular and is inscribed as follows - Side 1: John Knox Parish Aberdeen 1880; Side 2: This Do in Remembrance of Me / Luke XXII 18 & 19. John Knox became a parish in its own right in 1825, formed from part of the congregation of Greyfriars Church.

In 1880, the year in which the token was issued, the minister of John Knox Church was Herbert Bell, from Dumfriesshire, who, seven years later, had the misfortune to be killed in an accident at Kittybrewster railway station, Aberdeen.

As can be seen from this example, an appropriate quotation from the Scriptures was a favourite method of filling the space on the reverse of communion tokens from the early 19th century onwards.
