About MeA circular token inscribed on both sides: Side 1: St Clement's Parish, Aberdeen; Side 2: This Do in Remembrance of Me.Although the church which issued the token was only built in 1828 there had been a church dedicated to St Clement in the Aberdeen `village-suburb' of Footdee since the 15th century. Although the 19th-century building survives today it is no longer in use.
St Clement was an early Christian martyr who was killed by being thrown into the sea with an anchor around his neck. Thus churches dedicated to him are often located near the sea as is the case in Aberdeen.
