About MeLadies peacock blue sateen dance dress with slim shoulder straps and a flared skirt.

This stunning dress was made by a dressmaker and dates to the late 1950s. It has been heavily trimmed with floral embroidery, sequin tambourwork, frogging and diamanté stones. The skirt section has gored panels with inset fishtail sections, which add fullness and swing to the skirt, perfect for dancing. The dress was worn, possibly with the blue lurex shoes also on display, by Wilhelmina Archer Hay (neé Yeaman), the donor's mother.
