About MeCircular silver and gilt sporting medal with decorative scroll loop and ring with ribbon bar attached at the top and an engraved thistle wreath border. The medal also features a thistle and an engraved inscription 'Caledonian Club Sacramento: Throwing Heavy Hammer 1st Prize' and was awarded to Donald Dinnie.

Dinnie was born in Balnacraig near Aboyne, Aberdeenshire in 1837. He turned professional athlete and toured the world at the age of 30, winning over 11,000 competitions and a total of £28,000 in prize-money. He died in 1916 at the age of 79 in poverty.
