About MeThis black copper box has a paper embossed pattern which creates rhythm and texture. In his work, Hope pursues the quest for functional everyday objects which are also beautiful, and possess an air of quiet simplicity. In 1988 Hope was awarded a Craft Fellowship by the Scottish Development Agency which gave him the opportunity to research and develop a new approach to ornament. This blackened copper lidded box with its textured surface and prominent ribs came out of this period of research. More recently Hope has concentrated on silver pieces, characterised by bold and elegant shapes.
