More About Me
Giles here makes a departure from his conentional landscapes to sketch a fountain on the Villa Borghese estate. While the etching and detail suggest an extraordinary accuracy, it is the use of the Chinese White pigmant that truly distinguishes this artwork. Introduced to the artisitc pallete in 1834, Chinese White was often used to take the edge off brighter colours, but is here used to depict water in motion with subtlety and vibrance.
