About MePeploe had known artists Jessie M. King and E. A. Taylor in Paris and had an open invitation to join them in their Kircudbright home when they moved there in 1914.In tune with the Scottish subject and the more somber tonal values of the later war years, here Peploe has used a fairly subdued colour palette. Still in evidence however are the techniques that he had discovered in the south of France several years earlier, particularly the blue and mauve toned shadows and blocky, simplified architecture.
More About Me
The blue and mauve shadows and blocky architecture are techniques learned from Peploe's time in the south of France.
