About MeUpright twelve sided form of alternating bands of granite withround hinged cover set with domed rock crystal and mounts engraved with bands of foliage.
The hinged and pierced inner grille of silver gilt held a pad of sponge soaked in aromatic oil.
More About Me
Vinaigrettes take their name from the scented vinegars they held.  Small, scent-soaked sponges sat beneath an intricately decorated grill.  Elaborate designs were an indicator of the persons wealth and social standing.
