About MeDavid Blyth studied at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen. He is regarded as one of the most innovative contemporary artists working in the North East.

Blyth lives and works in the Aberdeenshire countryside, where the animals around him inspire much of his work. Like Damien Hirst, he uses taxidermy in some of his work but here we are presented with a display of beautiful objects, that suggest the presence of an animal, rather than presenting us with one.

At first glance this collection of horse tack seems to be functional but the various refinements the artist has added prompt the onlooker to enter Blyth's world of the imagination. This sculpture conjures up a magical world, the animal these items are intended for is not a mundane horse but something much more ethereal - perhaps even a unicorn.

More About Me
No ordinary horse? Various refinements to this collection of tack prompt us to consider Blyth's world of imagination.
