General History:
06/12/1853:
"regret to say that intelligence has been received of the loss last week of two vessels belonging to Port-gordon in this county. One is the 'SISTERS' Wm Cowie, which left Thurso on Monday, with pavement and wool for Lossiemouth. The John O'Groat Journal reports that on the following morning (the 29th ult.) [i.e. November] she was driven ashore at Keiss, near Wick, and completely wrecked. The crew were saved by the people who collected on the shore. Some of the wool has been saved, but in a damaged state, and the bulk of the cargo is lost. The vessel, which was repaired before her last voyage, and which was uninsured, was completely wrecked."
(Banffshire Journal) [it is likely but not certain that this is the right SISTERS]
