Gladiator

built 1850
About MeThe 'Gladiator' was a three masted sailing ship built by Walter Hood, Aberdeen in 1850. She was 144 feet 6 inches long and weighed 534 tons.
Henry Adamson, a prominent Aberdeen shipowner and merchant, was managing owner and principal shareholder in Gladiator. The vessel seems to have sailed mainly on the trade routes between Britain and India or Britain and South America. One of its captains, James Lovie of Banff, died at sea on 2 June 1862. Adamson sold Gladiator in 1868 to a Mr Little of London.
