Denis Law
Aberdeen, Scotland, born 1940
He won a number of medals with his teams during his carrer and was awarded the Ballon d'Or 1965, as well as a CBE in 2016, honorary degrees from Aberdeen and St Andrews Universities in 2005, and 2017 from Robert Gordon.
In 2012 Law established the Denis Law Legacy Trust, that operates programmes and activities focussed around community engagement and widening sporting participation. The charity aims to reduce instances of youth crime and anti-social behaviour; promote health and wellbeing and encourage inclusivity through sport, physical activity and creative endeavour.
He still lives near Manchester.
