Annie Inglis

Aberdeen, Scotland, 1922 - 2010
About MeTeacher, mentor, director, writer and campaigner, ‘Grannie Annie’, as she was affectionately known, inspired thousands of young people to pursue their dreams by taking to the stage.

A teacher by profession, Annie Inglis found her flair for theatre when she directed her first play in 1951. Soon after she arrived in Aberdeen she founded Attic Theatre, an amateur group that performed for almost 40 years. Annie passionately believed that theatre should be accessible to all, and she worked tirelessly founding many local and national organisations. Displaying determination and passion right up until the end, Annie directed her final production just a month before she died aged 87.
