Johanna Basford

Soon after graduating Johanna set up as a freelance illustrator, working at two jobs to pay the bills, and taking the overnight bus to London on her days off to drum up commissions. Ignoring advice to diversify her folio, she stuck to her own distinctive style and gradually built up a range of impressive clients. In 2011 she was asked to create a children’s colouring book. But deciding to do something different, Johanna designed a colouring book for adults, and in 2013 Secret Gardenwas published. With sales of over 21 million books in over 40 countries, Johanna’s work is a global success.
