BP Dyce new offices, old ice rink site (sub-contracted to Alba)

E83
DescriptionTrial trenching evaluation was carried out by Aberdeen City Council Archaeological Unit and Alba Archaeology in December 2005 on the proposed BP operations centre. One trench revealed a section of the Aberdeenshire Canal very similar to those seen at McIntosh of Dyce (NJ81SE 0303). Both have a hard-packed bank (possibly revetted) and what appears to be a rudimentary surface (towpath). The location of the section of the canal confirms the line of the canal as plotted in the Aberdeen Sites and Monuments Record.
