About MeDavid Michie is amongst a younger generation of artists who follow in the tradition of the Edinburgh School. He is the youngest son of Anne Redpath and like her, has always considered travel abroad important for the development of his art. On the significance of foreign journeys Redpath once commented; " your palette sort of enlarges itself so that even your very gamut of colour changes and becomes broader and wider."

In 1961 Michie accompanied Redpath to Portugal. Whilst Redpath painted the interiors of the local churches, Michie focused upon street and harbour scenes as this view of Sintra, west of Lisbon, demonstrates.
More About Me

Produced during a 1961 visit to Portugal with his mother, Anne Redpath, where she concentrated on church interiors whilst he focused on street and harbour scenes.
