About MePhil Reeves was born in Cheltenham in 1931. He studied at Cheltenham School of Art. He was elected R.S.W. in 1959 and a fellow of the Royal Society of Painters and Etchers in 1963. He was elected as a full member of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1976 and of the Royal Glasgow Institute in 1981.
It was in Glasgow that Reeves settles, becoming Head of Printmaking at Glasgow School of Art although he works in a variety of media notably etchings, painting and as here, collage. He has a particular affinity with and interest in landscape and his sensitive use of collage helps to emphasise the features of the landscape, the texture of the earth and rock and the faults and fissures on the cliff faces.
