About MeThis album with red and maroon leatherette cover contains photographs of William Garden & Company's Victoria Granite Works on King Street, Aberdeen.Garden & Co operated from about 1874, originally from premises on Gerrard Street before moving to King Street in 1879. From 1941 they are listed as a limited company and their last entry in the Aberdeen Directory is for 1962-63.
These rare photographs are a wonderful record of working life in Aberdeen. Through the album, we can almost step into the yard to take a look behind the scenes and see each process of granite manufacturing in turn. Not only do we learn about the granite yard itself but we get a glimpse of the men who worked there.
