About Me18ct gold pocket watch, hallmarked London 1875, by C.J.Klaftenberger, 157 Regent Street, London, who held the warrant "Chronometer Maker to the Queen" and specialised in top-quality time-pieces. The watch carries an inscription indicating that it was presented to John Brown by Queen Victoria, Christmas 1875. After Brown’s death in 1883 it became the property of his brother, Hugh.
