The object consists of three elements; a hammer finished silver egg which divides into two. Inside the silver egg is a round silver gilt box, which is etched with the impression of the world on the surface. This has a small hinge, which when pressed opens up to reveal an 18ct gold sculptural ring set with a diamond, which nestles into a black satin bed.
The egg acts as a vessel or container to carry the globe, which also acts a container to hold the sculptural ring. The components can be arranged in different configurations and displayed together or apart, which presents the opportunity for a mutli-dimensional approach to display and interpretation.
