About MeCorrespondence from Leslie Tait, Foveran School Board, to James McBey, Early Paper Ephemera. Letter is dated 20th March, 1897, and is regarding a Mathers bursary of £5. McBey is asked to ensure that his progress is "satisfactory and attendance at school regular", to qualify for the bursary.

Tait is listed as "L. Tait, clerk" on this object, but according to ABDAG00908.12, his first name is Leslie.

Letter reads:

"I am directed to inform you that a Mathers Bursary of £ 5 has been awarded to you, tenable for three years in any school of Foveran. One of the conditions under which the bursaries are [illegible] is "that the bursar's progress must be satisfactory and attendance at school regular". A full copy of the rules and conditions under which the bursaries are administered may be shown by the Clerk to interested persons. I am [illegible] Tait, Clerk"

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
