About MeItemised bill for James McBey's stay at Hotel Spaander, an Artist's Hotel founded by Leendert Spaander in 1881, which began as a cafe but was extended to a hotel and cafe restaurant. The artists who visited Leendert regularly gave him one of their works as a gesture of appreciation for his hospitality, and these were hung in the hotel rooms.

The bill is printed on a folded sheet of paper which has the hotel address on the front, an image of the hotel on the back, and the bill written across the two central pages. McBey stayed from 28 July to 17 August 1910, and was charged 63.80 guilders for this 20 night stay.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this bill.
