About MeTwo promotional leaflets for Hotel Spaander, kept within a brown manila envelope dated 17 August 1910. Hotel Spaander is an Artist's Hotel founded by Leendert Spaander in 1881, which began as a cafe but was extended to a hotel and cafe restaurant. The artists who visited Leendert regularly gave him one of their works as a gesture of appreciation for his hospitality, and these were hung in the hotel rooms.

Both leaflets are folded in half with information printed on the front and back and continuously across the centre. The first leaflet gives information about Hotel Spaander Cafe Restaurant in English, Dutch and French, on the outside, stating that the hotel is, "The first and oldest of the Village." The centre section details the various price options for your stay in the above three languages.

The second leaflet also gives details about the hotel on the outside, such as explaining that it has, "a large collection of pictures, sketches and drawings given by artists of different countries who have visited Volendam." The centre gives price options and explains how to make a reservation.

A pressed flower has been stored inside the first leaflet and the second is signed by Alida Spaander, Leendert's daughter, who took over the business in 1919.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as these leaflets.
