About MeSketch drawn by James McBey during his time as Official War Artist in Egypt from 26 May 1917. An annotation by McBey indicates that this sketch depicts a flag march, where the flags were white and blue. Five women wearing burkas stand in the foreground, and McBey has annotated certain sections to indicate colour. The sketch is kept within a sketchbook, along with a series of other related drawings.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this sketch.
