The dress features two types of beadwork, which is typical of Bill Gibb. He didn't feel restricted when decorating his designs and often added layers of embellishment that is sometime contrasting. There is a band of black beaded edging around the V-neck ad all other edges of the dress. This is contrasted with a heavily beaded and sequinned band around the waist, which has an ethnic feel.
