Historic Title
  • Old Battersea Bridge from the East
About MeJames Burnet initially trained as a woodcarver but established a reputation as a cattle painter before leaving Edinburgh in 1810 to live in London. He thereafter painted full-time, looking to the Dutch landscape masters Aelbert Cuyp and Paul Potter for inspiration. His subjects were pastoral scenes in which, as here, cattle often feature.
