About MeThis was the first of a series of sculptures created by Bill Duncan during his 'down' time offshore. Their size, materials and the tools he could use were restricted by offshore regulations as well as weight and size restrictions during his flights to and from the platforms. Even while working on the sculpture, the only space available to him was a linen cupboard, as his cabin (as is the norm) was shared with other crew members.

It isn't generally acknowledged the amount of creative and cultural activity that takes place offshore. Many of the workers like Bill are not only accomplished sculptors, but many write novels and poetry, paint, write and play music or are talented photographers.

Although executed in low relief the sculpture captures the complex fragility of the installation, hightened by its isolation in the centre of the field.
