About MeThe SAFE GOTHIA was originally built as an accomodation platform (Flotel) by Gotaverken Arendal, Sweden and entered service in 1981 at Statfjord B as the accomodation unit. It was owned by CONSAFE AB.In 1989 when it was attached to BRENT C it was the scene of a sit in by workforce seeking better working and safety conditions offshore. It was also subject to a major evacuation that year when two of its anchor cables snapped during a storm.
SAFE GOTHIA also acted as the base for Brent Field for Shell's (Bell 212) helicopter shuttle operated by Bristows.
1992 it was the accomodation unit attached to CORMORANT A at the time of the fatal helicopter ditching on 14th March in which most aboard died.
2009 it was in the possession of STENA and underwent conversion to a drill rig at the Keppel FELs yard at Singapore and renamed STENA TAY. It went on to work off the coast of Brazil for Shell for a 5 year contract.
In 2012 it was sold to Olbrecht Oleo e Gas of Brazil and name changed to ODN TAY 4.
2017 it was reported as being decommissioned.
