About MeKimberley Petrie is a writer and spoken word artist from Aberdeen. The Gallery has always had a special place in her heart since her Grandma took her there as a child. Kimberley created three new pieces in response to her favourite artwork, Flood in the Highlands by Edwin Landseer.
Landseer’s painting epitomises the Romantic vision, where man’s insignificance is shown in contrast to the magnificent but unpredictable forces of nature. Here, however, Kimberley’s intensely personal poems explore mental health and experiences of memory. They give us an insight into the life of Landseer as an artist who embodied fragility and struggle of the human existence in all its psychological and emotional manifestations.
