About MeRobert MacBryde met Robert Colquhoun at Glasgow School of Art during their days as students and they became lifelong friends thereafter. The 'two Roberts' as they came to be known, were awarded a travelling scholarship which allowed them to visit France and Italy.

In this still life, the debt to the famous Cubist artist Georges Braque is apparent in the subject matter, colouring and in the simplified, flattened forms.
