About MeWilliam Gibb was a landscape painter and lithographer but later specialised in painting highly accurate watercolours of relics, applied art objects and particularly goldsmiths' work, as here. His work has been described as the counterpart to Jacquemart's etchings in France.
He exhibited with the Aberdeen Artists' Society from 1885 to 1921 and lived in Aberdeen until 1921, when he moved to London, where he died in 1929.
