About MeA completely new series of notes engraved by Thomas de la Rue and Company for the North of Scotland Bank was first issued in 1939.

The new notes are more rectangular in shape than those of the 1909 design which were almost square. Once again King's College, Aberdeen regains its pride of place in the centre of the note and is accompanied by the coat of arms of the Bank, the City of Aberdeen and the County of Aberdeen. The colour scheme of blue on yellow ground is retained for the £1.
