Although the colour of this note is quite pleasing it was not adopted by the bank for the one pound for which blue and yellow were chosen instead. A variation of this colour combination using a darker brown was used on the £100 note.
There is no difference between the design of this reverse and that of the notes actually issued. The colour, however, is very dissimilar and is not even the same as that suggested for the obverse of the colour trial. Bright orange and green was not adopted by the North of Scotland and Town and County for any of its notes. Perhaps such gaudiness did not appeal to conservative Aberdeen bankers of the Edwardian period.
