About MeThe Aberdeen artist Robert Brough studied at the Royal Scottish Academy where he developed his unique, almost Post Impressionist style; taking inspiration from the French Impressionists and the Glasgow Boys. He also spent time painting in Paris, Brittany, and Morocco. His technical brushwork, which contributed to his ability to capture the moment in his works, saw him grow very successful before his early death in a train crash in 1905.This painting is the finished version of 'Girl in Red', a study of the young Kathleen who is painted near her home in Fintray on the banks of the River Dee. The younger sister of Dolly Crombie, whom Brough also painted, Kathleen never married, but stayed home to look after her mother.
More About Me
A portrait of Kathleen Crombie done at her home near Fintry, Aberdeenshire, which captures the moment with its loose and flowing brushwork, reminiscent of the work of the French Impressionists and the Glasgow Boys.
