About MeAs Scotland's leading portrait painter during the later years of the Scottish Enlightenment, Sir Henry Raeburn recorded, with great vivacity, the faces and manners of contemporary society.

Jane, or Jean, Ogilvie was the eldest daughter of the 7th Lord of Banff and in 1803 fell heir to his estates. Lady Ogilvie married Sir George Abercromby and she was the mother-in-law of Elizabeth, Lady Abercromby, whose portrait by Raeburn is also in the collection of Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums.
