About MeIn colour scheme and design there is little difference between the five and one pound notes; even in size the five is only slightly larger. To tell them apart one has to look at the indication of value which on the five-pound only is repeated on the reverse.

The five-pound note of the series introduced in 1909 by the North of Scotland and Town and County Bank was very similar in almost all respects to the one-pound of the same series.

On amalgamation in 1907 the two banks operated under the name of "North of Scotland and Town and County Bank". In 1923 this cumbersome title reverted to "North of Scotland Bank"".
