About MeNotes of higher value than one pound in the new series are in a reduced size and show King's College, Aberdeen along with Glasgow Cathedral. In the centre between these two buildings appears a round shield-boss design the pale brown of which complements the predominant green of the rest of the note. Red instead of black is used for the serial numbers.

Following the merger in 1950 between the Clydesdale Bank and the North of Scotland Bank, both of which were subsidiaries of the Midland Bank, a new series of notes was introduced.
