About MeSusie Cooper started work as a paintress at the Stoke-on-Trent company of A.E. Gray & Co. in 1922. Although Grays produced stylish modern designs, she was not content to remain with the firm as she wanted to have full control of the design process – both shape and surface pattern. She left in 1929 to establish the Susie Cooper Pottery – at that time a bold move for a woman.
More About Me
Cooper started as a ceramic painter in a large company, but wanted full control of the design process - shape and pattern - so set up her own firm.
