About MeStoneware round plate with flattened rim, glazed all over in a green-brown speckled wood ash glaze with splashes of reddish-brown tenmoku glaze. A green-brown glaze covers the central well of the plate through which are trailed and feather combed bands of greenish slip.
Although Edward Hughes was inspired by Japanese philosophy and ceramics, he was also influenced by traditional English slipware and decoration.
