About MeThis stoneware round plate with flattened rim is glazed all over in a greeny-brown speckled wood ash glaze with splashes of reddish-brown tenmoku glaze. A dark brown glaze covers the central well of the plate through which are six trailed and feather combed bands of greenish slip (liquid clay).
Although Edward Hughes was inspired by Japanese philosophy and ceramics, he was also influenced by traditional English slipware.
