About MeAn Austrian born Jew, Oskar Kokoschka was one of the greatest early exponents of Expressionist art. His work was labelled 'degenerate' by the Nazis and he escaped to England in 1938, later becoming a British citizen.

For Kokoschka, watercolour as an independent medium came late in life. The fresh gossamer lightness of his flower pieces are far removed from the tortured, neurotic expressionist visions of his earlier portraits and landscapes.
