About MeThis charcoal sketch is one of several studies that Dyce made for the central figure of a monk in the fresco 'The Baptism of King Ethelbert'. There is an almost identical version of the same figure in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum. The V&A sketch, also executed in charcoal, is of a similar size and is inscribed 'central figure in fresco House of Lords, 1846'. However, although the features of the subject are identical to the one in this sketch, the figure's head is bowed slightly and the eyes are downcast.More About Me
