About MeWalter Richard Sickert was a major figure in the British art world, having returned to England in 1905 after periods in France and Italy. Within a couple of years he had established the informal Fitzroy Street Group in London and was the driving force behind the formation of the Camden Town Group. This is one of numerous sketches that Sickert made of a Parisian theatre, La Gaîté Rochechouart. The modern life subject matter demonstrates the influence on Sickert of his French contemporaries, Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec.
More About Me
Sickert's view of Le Gaiete, a 900-seat concert hall in Paris, shows the influence of Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec.
